To develop a sustainable Primary Care workforce model for the future, employers are encouraged to access the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice Apprenticeship at Canterbury Christ Church University for any staff member starting their Advancing Clinical Practice Journey.

Funding

Practices who are non-levy employers can either apply for a full levy (course cost) transfer from a levy paying employer or reserve 95% of funds government co-investment therefore only paying 5% of the total course costs.

  • Advanced Clinical Practice Programme will cost an employer approximately £600 over 3 years under co-investment compared to costing the Training Hub £10,500 if applied for under the modular route.

Legal requirement

To attract government funding a 20% minimum off-the-job training threshold has been set. This is the minimum amount of time that should be spent on occupational off-the-job training during an apprenticeship. This applies to both apprenticeship frameworks and to apprenticeship standards at all levels.

Examples of off-the-job training

· Attending ACP Development Groups

· Direct time spent with supervisors discussing progression, development and growth

· Supervised practice learning new knowledge, skills and behaviours

· Sharing knowledge and effectively demonstrating how to put that knowledge into practice safely

· Delegating learning opportunities to other supervisors and anyone else who may suitably enable learning e.g. shadowing specialists

· Fully follow a patient pathway across settings/departments

· Personal reflection time on learning and growth

· Conferences, learning events and university days
