MedStart Work Experience

Following the success of last year’s MedStart programmes, we are pleased to inform you that the East Kent Training Hub is again working collaboratively with East Kent Hospitals to deliver a similar programme that we would like your support with.

Click here to read the evaluation report from last year’s programme that explains the benefits and outcomes of the programme.

MedStart aims to support students applying to Medical School and in particular Kent and Medway Medical School. Instead of 3 MedStart Plus work experience weeks, there will only be one week allocated to work experience w/c 20th July 2020. All students will attend an induction day on 20th July 2020 and placements will be for 4 days from Tuesday 21st – Friday 24th July 2020.

If your practice is able to support work experience opportunities for aspiring medical students during this week, please email us at the Training Hub by Friday 31st January 2020 confirming the number of students that you are able to support during this week.

Students are expected to experience all elements of general practice: sitting on the front desk to spending time with clinical team members (HCAs, Nurses, Paramedics, Pharmacists, GPs, etc.). MedStart Plus it is an excellent opportunity to showcase your practice and the importance of primary care in the future.

In addition to MedStart Plus, there will also be 3 MedStart4U one day taster sessions on:

  • 5th June 2020 at QEQM Hospital

  • 30th June 2020 at WHH Hospital

  • 17th July 2020 at K&C Hospital

If you would like to help out at any of the MedStart4U events, please let us know.
