Practice Assessor Course
This 2-day course prepares you as a Practice Assessor for Nursing Students. You will develop an understanding of the NMC Standards for Nursing and Midwifery Education (May 2018) and the new roles and responsibilities required (practice supervisor; practice assessor and academic assessor). You will develop knowledge and skill in the student assessment process and associated documentation, giving appropriate feedback, and effectively managing underperformance.
Day 1 of the course is a self-directed study day, accessing online materials, these can be accessed from home or the office, and can be completed at any time prior to day 2, a virtual study day, attended by other course participants and facilitated by a lecturer from Canterbury Christ Church University. You must provide evidence of completion of day 1 (a certificate is obtainable from the online platform once the modules are completed). Practice Supervisor Training
Canterbury Christ Church University do not provide specific PS training, preparation material is available along with self-directed modules designed to support PS development. The half day preparation session provides explanation of the role and responsibilities and the role of the PA. Learning modules are also available and include: Understanding students, Assessing learning needs, Raising concerns, Giving feedback and Coaching skills. These can be accessed at: https://plplg.uk/ These modules also form part of the PA training.
Virtual Practice Learning Facilitator Forum These forums replace the previous face to face development sessions. We are offering these to all practice assessors and practice supervisors to share and explore their experiences in supporting students. Next dates:
